About Us

Second Growth Herb Collective provides free herbal medicine and care to local marginalized community members on the Olympic Peninsula, on Skokomish, Chemakum and S’Klallam territory. We also build relationships and share resources with BIPOC healers and herbalists regionally, and we answer requests for medicine from ongoing actions, front lines and communities most impacted by oppression across all colonial borders. We believe in mutual aid and resource redistribution in real time, and we work to share the abundance of plant medicine around us with the folks who need it most. We are always working toward an anti-oppressive and culturally respectful herbalism, both in our own practices and in the herbalism community at large.

Our Work

Our collective, like many mutual aid projects, was forged in the fire of the Uprising for Black Lives of 2020 and the early days of COVID 19. Five plus years later, we are still working to bring medicine, health knowledge, and community with each other and with the greater than human world to our neighbors and friends.

Here are some of the projects we are proud to work on:-Herbal medicine contributions to local free CSA for BIPOC-Hot tea at Potluck in the Park and at the Recovery Cafe-Community medicine making days, where folks learn by helping us make things!-Spring plant drives in support of Indigenous herbalists and farmers-Herbal mocktails at pride events-Herbal medicine support for events, actions, local activists and organizers, and front line/ongoing actions that have put out public calls for medicine or with whom we have personal relationships-Personalized herbal medicine for individual community members

Although this work feeds us, and we forage and grow so much of our medicine, we still live in capitalism, and things cost money! We have a vision of sustainable mutual aid, where resources flow to where they are needed most. We know that many folks value and support our work, and can’t show up in person for various reasons. Supporting us with dollars of any amount is a deeply appreciated and valued way of contributing to our mission of making herbal medicine accessible and real for the folks we serve. Any size donation is so helpful to us.

Here are some of the ways your dollars support us:
-Raw materials for medicine making: alcohol, honey, beeswax, oil-Packaging: bottles and tins, bags, labels, and fun stickers!-Gas money for getting plants and other material resources to some of our regional collaborators and allies-Postage for mailing care packages to organizers and activists across the country-Repairs and maintenance for our apothecary space
